Amethyst

Amethyst stones are a purple variety of quartz. Our Amethyst Crystals and Amethyst Geodes are popularly used as ornaments around the home. These Amethyst gem stones have beautiful Crystalline Structures. Amethyst is the birthstone associated with February. It is also associated with the astrological signs of Pisces, Aries, Aquarius, and Sagittarius.

The name Amethyst comes from the Greek "a" ("not") and "methuskein" ("to intoxicate"), a reference to the belief that the stone protected its owner from drunkenness; the ancient Greeks and Romans wore amethyst and made drinking vessels of it in the belief that it would prevent intoxication. Amethyst was used as a gemstone by the ancient Egyptians and was largely employed in antiquity for intaglios. Beads of amethyst are found in Anglo-Saxon graves in England.
