A close relative of the sea urchin, the sand dollar is a simple but successful marine species. Covered in fine spines when living, the animal leaves behind a pale disk, or 'test' with the distinctive petal pattern seen on this pendant. The sand dollar lends itself wonderfully to fossilisation. The bleached fossil retains the pleasing symmetrical pattern and soft colours. We also sell flat sand dollars, but here the domed fossil makes a lovely pendant.
