Brookite is not necessarily a physical healer, but can draw attention to the areas of the body that need balancing or other adjustment, especially in the first few minutes of handling it. After holding for a longer period of time, this sense will become less discernable as it forms a cocooning shield around the body, calming and grounding in the process. Brookite is highly protective. It can be applied for personal protection, but is especially effective against electromagnetic radiation (EMR). It will further help to discharge and/or earth any superfluous electrical charge the body might be holding as a result of being exposed to certain environments, such as spending too much time on the computer or mobile phone. As the charge dissipates, the body becomes calmer and more in balance, and the mind clearer. For this reason, it is also helpful in calming 'monkey mind', and deepening the meditative state. Rather than placing brookite between yourself and the source of EMR, as you would with black tourmaline, it is more effective when held or is otherwise in physical contact with the person.
Brookite crystals are usually small, but don’t be put off by size – even small pieces are very potent. Interestingly, Melody states that brookite attracts and retains energy, and can be used to energise chakras and the energy field. In spite of being the apparent opposite of my interpretation, I don’t disagree – energising and strengthening the body’s field is just what is needed to form a barrier against EMR. Brookite is highly recommended for those who spend a lot of time on the computer or other similar devices.
