This harpoceras ammonite fossil is around 180 million years old, from the Lower Jurassic Period. It was excavated many years ago from the classic Posidonia Shale Deposit at Holzmaden in Wurttenburg, Germany. This ammonite exhibits the attractive golden colour of specimens from this locality, due to pyritisation of the shell imprint.

A beautifully preserved Ammonite Fossil Plaque, this impressive piece is very well detailed, showing the graceful shapes and smooth lines of the spiral ammonite shell.

Ammonites lived 135 - 395 million years ago, swimming in all the world's oceans. Their delicate fossils make striking statements in any space. This plaque is a stylish way to bring natural beauty and history into your home and is a great way to interest children in natural history and a wonderful gift for lovers of natural history everywhere.
