A nice example of the black variety of Andradite Garnet known as Melanite, from Chihuahua, Mexico. The crystal exhibits typical dodecahedral crystal form.
In addition to the general properties of Garnet, Melanite is extremely grounding and very protective. It is sometimes used in the treatment of cancer.
