Origin of Name & Mythology: Named in 1845 by Wilhelm Karl von Haidinger in honour of Franz Xavier von Wulfen (1728 – 1805) botanist, mineralogist, alpinist and Jesuit. Wulfen authored a monograph on the lead ores of Bleiberg, Austria.
In common with many lead ores, wulfenite clears and balances all chakras. Although associated with the element Fire, it is warming and soothing, its energy flowing through the body like warm honey, rather than the fiery conflagration of some other Fire minerals. This is enhanced by molybdenum, that smooths the path and encourages flexibility, pliancy, and a generally sunny demeanour. As it clears, it identifies areas that need attention and uses a vortex of Air to blow away whatever is released in the process. Wulfenite then brings the physical and spiritual bodies into alignment. The user is left feeling fully present in the body, while at the same time retaining connection with Source. This makes it an ideal stone to help achieve a meditative state, as it calms mind chatter and grounds spiritual energy. Through this, it can improve connection and smooth interaction with other dimensions and states of being, making it possible to hold more than one state at the same time (physical-spiritual, inner-outer, heaven-earth, etc.), as well as supporting integration of Shadow. Wulfenite aids calm acceptance of, and even satisfaction with, present circumstances in one’s life. Melody suggests it can facilitate bonding between souls who have agreed to meet in this lifetime.
