Clinoclase is a very rare mineral, found in larger than micro-size crystals in only a handful of locations around the world. Some of the world's finest specimens were discovered many years ago in Cornwall, England in the 1700's.
This specimen is from a small batch collected around 20 years ago from the famous Majuba Hill Mine, Nevada, U.S.A. The crystals are small, but extremely bright and lustrous; of the the darkest blue-green, appearing almost black unless under bright lighting. A nice example of a classic mineral from a classic location.
A magnifying lens or preferably a binocular microscope is required to best appreciate these small crystals. An excellent specimen for the macro/micro photography enthusiast.
